I aim to grow as a songwriter producer, collaborate with talented musicians, and create music that resonates with me. Additionally, I am committed to mentoring young talent and helping them achieve success, building a legacy of creativity, growth, and inspiration.
Renowned songwriter, keyboardist, music producer, and touring DJ, Lem Springsteen is best known for co-writing and co-producing the 1997 dance anthem "Free" by Ultra Naté, as well as his pivotal role in the production company Mood II Swing throughout the '90s. As a songwriter, his contributions have left an indelible mark on the global House music scene with classics such as "Beautiful People" by Barbara Tucker, "Free" by Ultra Nate, "Critical" by Gerald Latham, "Closer" by Carole Sylvan, "Rushing" by Loni Clark, among others.

About Me
As a teenager my brother and I won first place at Amateur night at New York's renowned Apollo Theater. Under the guidance of veteran producer Vaughan Mason, we won first place singing and performing live my first penned song during this contest. The winner of the contest was given a single deal with a major UK label. Peter Edge (Alicia Keys current A&R)signed us to Chrysalis records for a single deal with album options. However that deal never escalated due to marginal single sales. Energy was refocused in finishing high school. Years later, while attending college I formed a music group, inspired by UK's Soul II Soul, with a male and female lead vocalist. I wrote all the songs of all tempos and the music was co-produced by the other members, John Ciafone and James Barba. Our intention was to be signed to a major recording label. That direction never materialized and the group disbanded. Afterwards Louie Vega, who originally wanted to sign us invited John and myself into his studio, at the time, to learn the world he was working in. Mood II Swing was formed and I quickly went from songwriter to remixer for a decade. Although I still pursued writing and tried to place songs all of tempos, while having access to a major studio to work out of, Bass Hit Studios in New York city. I instantly became a student of professional engineers, who studied the art of recording engineering. Both John and I were groomed by the head of engineering David Darlington, Steve Barkan, Phil Pagano, Dexter Simmons and Won Allen. This was the place where I met other music producers, singers and musicians. Our first original dance vocal "Helpless" by Urbanized feat. Silvano happened arbitrarily after being in the studio at the right time. Singer Silvano came to visit Louie and after I heard his voice, I asked if he would sing the song I wrote titled "Helpless". "Helpless" which was signed by an indie dance label Maxi records went on to be picked up by a major US label Mercury records and Jazz Summers (Lisa Stansfield's late manager) signed it to Big Life in the UK. The song currently appears in the DVD film "Jeffrey" starring; Sigourney Weaver & Patrick Stewart.

As the co-founder of Mood II Swing (est. 1993), remixing became a way to still work in music. However abroad I became known as someone who helped shape the golden era of deep house and garage, earning global recognition in 1997.
Growing up on American R&B, soul and jazz, disco & classic rock, I later became known as a true architect of House music, after co-writing and co-producing some of the most celebrated tracks in house music history, such as Barbara Tucker's "Beautiful People", recognized by Billboard and Ultra Naté's groundbreaking global hit "Free" in 1997. The song became a defining moment, earning a certified gold record from A&M UK. It started out as a rebellious idea for the record label to infuse rock guitars on an underground dance vocal. But the song message was effective. After 20 years from its release the tune has been featured in Pete Tong’s Ibiza Orchestra tours, indie & major films, television commercials, while being covered and sampled by countless mainstream performers worldwide.
This has led to major music publishing deals with EMI, Universal, and currently Sony UK. From being featured in leading music publications to given the opportunity to tour as a new DJ I've been very fortunate to have performed at some prestigious stages in the world, including Glastonbury Festival 2023, under the direction of Constellate Talent Agency UK.
Beyond the music, I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, specializing in Journalism from Hofstra University (1990). Whether producing, performing, or mentoring the next wave of artists, I continue to push creative boundaries and reshape soundscapes.
